Re/Set 2011

Solo exhibition at VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Ireland.  These works explore elements of social commentary related to consumption and mass production, referencing historicity, anthropomorphism and collation.

Selection of install and detail images of a sculptural installation with recycled domestic dining tables, wood, silver, gold leaf, butterflies, talc, icing sugar, porcelain, blown glass, leather, latex, vinyl rubber, bone, electroplated found objects.  Images courtesy of the artist.

Selection of stills from Human/Nature (Grace) 2011
Single-channel HD video, colour.

Shown alongside RE/SET at VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, this was the first in a series of works based around the idea of scavengers.  The bird featured in the video is a Red Kite, a species that became extinct in Ireland following what was known as the ‘Great Famine’ 1845 - 1849.  The creature was re-introduced to this country in 2007 and is now seen to be breeding successfully.  This particular bird is female and her name is Grace.
